Trip Description

Trek Langtang and Gosainkund: why not discover a preserved and little-visited region of Nepal? This trek, in a protected environment and culturally very interesting, will meet your desires. During this loop circuit, at a moderate altitude and accessible to all good walkers, you will discover typical mountain villages, with terraced crops and many pastures where herds of yaks live. The highlight of your circuit will be reaching the sacred lakes of Gosainkunda, pilgrimage sites for the Buddhist population, where chorten and prayer walls become more numerous. This trek will take you on foot to the gates of Kathmandu.

    Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m)

    Arrival in Kathmandu, depending on your flight schedule. Welcome by your local guide at the airport exit with an agency sign, then transfer to your hotel. Briefing and presentation of the itinerary. In case of morning arrival, day of rest or possibility to visit the tourist district of Thamel for those who wish. Your hotel is located in the heart of the tourist city.

    Early departure, drive to Syabrubesi, which is located 150 km north of Kathmandu. The road winds along the valley; we discover the terraced rice and millet fields. Arrival at Tirsuli for lunch, then ascent towards the town of Dunché, the capital of the region, before descending again to Syabrubesi, our destination point.

    First day of trekking, we walk along the Langtang Khola river and can admire the torrents, then we climb stone steps amidst pine and fern vegetation. We cross several suspension bridges and admire the waterfalls, including the one at Dovan (1,672 m). Arrival at the destination at Lama Hotel.

    Easy ascent through the forest of hemlocks, oaks, maples, white and pink rhododendrons (during the flowering season). We arrive at the entrance to Langtang National Park. We continue walking to the village of Ghora Tabdaela at 2,970 m. After lunch, an easy ascent to reach the village of Langtang, destroyed by the 2015 earthquake. We continue our walk to Mundu, the endpoint of our day.

    A short day of walking that starts with a gentle and steady climb to admire the high mountains: Ganchempo Peak (6,387 m) and Langtang Lirung (7,227 m). Arrival at Kyanjin, the last village of Langtang, for lunch. In the afternoon, climb up to the summit of Kyanjin Ri at 4,773 m, which offers an unmissable view of the glaciers of the high valley and the surrounding peaks over 7,000 m in altitude. You will be in the very heart of the Himalayas, at the highest point of your trek in the Langtang region. Around us rise the most beautiful and highest peaks of the north. After a few photos to capture this memorable moment, a long descent to the lodge. For those who do not wish to climb to the summit, in the afternoon, visit the village, the cheese factory, and take walks in the surroundings.

    Lunch, then descent to Lama Hotel by the same path.

    Today, descent in the morning along the same trail. We continue towards Bambu Village, then we climb back up to the village of Thulo Sybru. In the afternoon, we take advantage of this important village to discover the local lifestyle of its inhabitants. The Tamang ethnic group, originally from Tibet, populates this village.

    From Thulo Syabru, we gently climb towards the village of Shin Gompa, for about 6 hours of walking. We cross vast forests of rhododendrons and pines. Rest upon our arrival at Shin Gompa.

    Gradual ascent towards Gosaikund. Along the way, magnificent views of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. We continue to a small pass before arriving at Gosainkund, a pilgrimage site famous for its beautiful sacred lakes and a pilgrimage destination in summer for Hindu and Buddhist populations. Short walks around the blue lake.

    Early departure. Today, we cross the Laurebina pass at 4,610 m, which offers a superb panorama of the Annapurna range and its peaks, such as Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Manaslu. After crossing the pass, a long descent leads us to Gopte, a place of pastures and the endpoint of today's journey.

    Gradual ascent up to the village of Golbanjyang, descent to Chipling then ascent towards the village of Chisopani, from where we can enjoy a superb view of Everest, Makalu, Kanchanjunga, Dorjee Lkapa, and Numbur. Very beautiful views of the surrounding valleys during this day of walking.

    We start our day in Chisopani National Park. After passing through several small villages, we arrive at Sundarijal, the final point of our trek. We then take the road to Kathmandu. The journey takes about 1h30 to reach your hotel. Check-in, then free time.
