Trip Description

The Annapurna Base Camp is a vast amphitheater surrounded by a solid wall made up of snow-capped peaks such as Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, as well as the fish-tail shaped tip of Machhapuchhare. On the Annapurna Base Camp trail, you descend a small ridge near the mountain pass, along the slope, with terraced fields offering peaceful meadows and fertile farmland. When you arrive at the Annapurna Base Camp, you are blown away by the magnificent picturesque landscapes, the majestic panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks, and the different Himalayan environments below the southern slope of Annapurna.

    Arrival in Kathmandu

    Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel. Our representative will collect two passport-sized photos and a copy of your passport in order to obtain the trekking permit. Rest of the day free. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

    Visit of Kathmandu

    Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu and Swayambhunath City of Kathmandu: the capital of Nepal, one of the oldest cities in the world, also known as Kantipur. Here you can discover temples with characteristic architecture, stone sculptures, as well as ancient monasteries and other historical monuments. You will visit the temple of the Living Goddess, who receives the devotion of believers from the balcony. The Kasthamandap temple, from which Kathmandu gets its name and which is said to be built from the wood of a single tree, as well as Durbar Square with its multitude of temples dominated by the Hanuman Dhoka palace, former residence of the Nepalese royalty. Swayambhunath: located 4 km from Kathmandu, this Buddhist stupa is said to be 2000 years old, one of the oldest and most prestigious Buddhist chaityas. The Chaitya (stupa) that makes up the main structure consists of a solid hemisphere of brick and earth, supporting a noble conical spire whose top is made of gilded copper. The all-seeing eyes of Buddha are painted on each side of the spire. It is located on a hill that is a true mosaic of small chaityas and pagodas. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

    Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, start the scenic drive to the village of Dhampus via Pokhara. After Pokhara, you will head towards Phedi to finally arrive at the Gurung village of Dhampus. Overnight at the hotel in Dhampus.

    Breakfast at the hotel. The road narrows as it winds around a rocky ridge. Continuing the walk, you pass through Pothana and arrive at Deurali. At this point, you are on the eastern side of the Modi Khola, flowing from the Annapurna Sanctuary, and you are completely surrounded by nature. You continue your trek for 4 hours until you reach the picturesque village of Landrung. The spectacular view of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli brings even more excitement and enthusiasm to this adventure. Overnight in lodge.

    Trek to Chomrong (about 5 hours of walking)

    Breakfast at the lodge. From Landrung, you walk along the mountain trail, pass through a hamlet, cross a suspension bridge, and then you encounter a dense bamboo forest. Finding yourself so completely isolated, in the midst of serene nature, can turn out to be an intense experience. But the trek is not over yet. After a few moments of walking, you approach the tea houses at Jhinu, where you can rest and enjoy drinks or snacks. You then resume your walk northwards. After a 5-hour walk, you arrive at Chomrong. From this village, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Machhapuchhare. There are many wooden, chalet-style lodges in Chomrong, where you can stay and eat. Overnight at the lodge.

    Breakfast at the lodge. After crossing Chomrong Khola, you continue your trek along steep stone steps. On the trail, you skirt the path along the ridge covered with rhododendrons, cross mountainous terrain and bamboo forests. As you enjoy the inspiring views of the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhare, you gather more energy and enthusiasm to continue. During the 5 hours of walking, you will pass through Modi Khola, Khuldigar, and Dovan, finally arriving at your lodge where you can rest. Night at the lodge.

    Trek to the Machhapuchhare base camp (3,700 m) (about 4 to 5 hours of walking)

    Breakfast in the lodge. Your next destination is the Machhapuchhare base camp. You climb and descend the various trails. After a steep ascent, you reach Hinku Cave. The walk follows a zigzag stone path. After 3 or 4 hours of walking, you enter the Annapurna Sanctuary, a giant amphitheater surrounded by snow-capped peaks such as Annapurna I, II, III, and IV, as well as the fish-tail summit of Machhapuchhare. Several lodges and inns are visible at Deorali and Bagar. You will finally be at the Machhapuchhare base camp, a grassy moraine platform. You can rest in one of the lodges and enjoy a good meal. Overnight in the lodge.

    Trek to the south base camp of Annapurna (4,130 m) (about 4 hours of walking)

    Breakfast at the lodge. During the 2-hour walk on the Annapurna trail, you descend a small ridge from the mountain pass and arrive at vast areas made up of peaceful meadows and fertile farmland. Upon arriving at the Annapurna South Base Camp, take in picturesque landscapes and panoramic views of the snow-capped mountain peaks. You then return to your lodge. Overnight at the lodge.

    Trek to Chomrong (2,100 m) (about 5 hours of walking)

    Breakfast in the lodge. You continue your walk along a wooded rocky ridge on the outskirts of misty hills. A grassy slope opens onto a rocky area down to the bank of the Kali Gandaki. The Kali Gandaki is the deepest gorge in the world, representing a significant biogeographical interest and marking the border between eastern and western birdlife. The trail to Modi Khola passes through dense forests of rhododendrons and bamboo in the Annapurna range. After 5 hours of walking, you arrive at Chomrong. From Chomrong, you have a remarkable and hypnotic view of Machhapuchhare. There are many wooden, chalet-style lodges in Chomrong that provide accommodation and meals. Overnight in the lodge.

    Trek to Ghandruk (1,940 m) (about 5 hours of walking)

    Breakfast in lodge. From Chomrong, we take an alternative trail to return to Pokhara, via Ghorepani. As you move through the plains, forests, and terraces, a suspension bridge will be on your route. By crossing this suspension bridge over the Khumnu Khola, you enter the charming village of Ghandruk at the end of a 3 or 4 hour walk. You will be able to observe the unique culture, traditions, and customs of the Gurung community. Ghandruk offers magnificent views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchhre. It is home to several hotels and tea houses. Camping in the plains is very exciting and adventurous. Night in lodge.

    Trek to Nayapul (about 4 h of walking), then Pokhara (1 h 30 by road)

    After having enjoyed the spectacle of Annapurna and other giants of the Himalayas from the popular viewpoint of Ghandruk, you leave the village and now head towards Nayapul. You then descend towards Syauli Bazar. Birethanti is located on the banks of the Modi river and is a resourceful town. 25 minutes after Birethanti, you arrive at the main road. You can now access all types of transport to return to Pokhara. In the evening, you have free time to stroll along the lakes of Pokhara. Night at the hotel.

    Breakfast at the hotel. From Pokhara, you can either return to Kathmandu by plane or take the road. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.
