Trip Description

The Atlas Mountains are only a short distance from Marrakech, but a world away. The spectacular mountain landscapes, picturesque valleys, and traditional isolated villages offer superb hikes, ranging from pleasant routes through valleys and villages to challenging ascents of peaks and high passes around Toubkal. All our treks are private and include professional transfers to and from Marrakech in modern and safe vehicles, qualified Moroccan mountain guides, private cooks who prepare delicious full meals on the trail, as well as mules to carry your equipment. Trekking to the summit of Toubkal 4,167 m Overview: This is the ultimate trek in the High Atlas, an 8-day circuit on a wide circular route around Mount Toubkal. With a number of spectacular passes, breathtaking campsites, and of course, the summit of Toubkal to tackle, this is not a trek for the faint-hearted. The rewards, however, are immense, as you venture into the wilderness from the relatively populated valleys around Imlil. Theme: Trekking, Hiking, Nature Period: All seasons Start/End point: Marrakech to Marrakech Spot sequence: Marrakech, Imlil, Tacheddirt, Tizi Likemt, Azib Likemt, Amsourzerte, Lake Ifni, Toubkal Summit, Marrakech Altitude: 2,314 m, 3,555 m, 4,167 m Availability: Every day Accommodation category: Hotel, guesthouse, and camping tents Transport: Private transfer Price per person from: €665 (min 2 participants) Highlights: The Atlas mountain range stretches across much of Morocco, but it is particularly spectacular around the town of Imlil, just 90 minutes' drive from Marrakech. There are at least fifteen peaks over 3,800 m in a concentrated area around Mount Toubkal, which itself is the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167 m. The region is perfect for trekking, with a vast network of mule trails and traditional Berber villages that offer hospitality in simple rural lodges. This 8-day / 7-night circular trek around Mount Toubkal includes the summit of Toubkal, but the real highlight is getting away from the crowds to venture into wild mountain areas. Lake Ifni, a deep blue lake located at 2,312 m altitude, is the only lake in the mountain. The passes of Tizi Likemt (3,555 m), Tizi n'Ououraine (3,120 m), and Tizi n'Ouanoums (3,664 m) offer incredible views of the Toubkal massif and the Ifni dome. Superb campsites by Lake Ifni and by the river at Tacheddirt offer peaceful resting places, while stays in guesthouses in traditional Berber villages give you an insight into Berber culture.
