day 1
Capão Valley + Highlands + Pati ValleyDeparture from the agency at 8 a.m. by vehicle to the village of Bomba, start of the Pati valley trail. Crossing the Vieira high plateaus, traversed by many rivers. These vast expanses were exploited by gold prospectors and cattle breeders for nearly a century. Picnic and swimming at the Cristaux waterfall. The route follows the muleteers' path, which offers a spectacular view of all the Pati massifs, one of the most isolated areas of the Natural Park. Endemic rupestrian vegetation, carnivorous plants, high-altitude orchids, and everlasting flowers (paepalanthus). A few pairs of "Gavião pé de serra" raptors frequent these heights. Homestay accommodation, without electricity, rustic rooms with beds and sheets. Food prepared by the local cook with ingredients from the garden.
day 2
Pati Valley + Funis Waterfall + Old Pati Town Hall + Pati RiverAfter the locally colored breakfast, we cross an area of dense forest of jacarandas and ipês, characteristic species of the Atlantic forest. The trail suddenly opens onto a dreamlike waterfall surrounded by tall trees. Bromeliads cling to the centuries-old trees like the set of an Amazonian theater. We then descend towards the south of the valley to reach the old town hall, on the edge of the Pati river. Picnic by the river, accommodation with the inhabitants of this micro-village lost in the middle of the natural park. Late afternoon facing the Castelo, the last rays of the sun illuminate the foothills of this natural "castle". Dinner with our hosts.
