Stay program

• day 1

  From Medan to Bukit Lawang

  In the morning, departure around 8:30 am to make the most of the day. We will start with small, quiet, and flat paths that cross palm plantations. We will arrive in the afternoon, around 4:30 pm, at the Bukit Lawang reserve, to enjoy this very beautiful wild spot. With a bit of luck, the orangutans will not be far from the hotel; otherwise, we will have to walk a little in the forest to see them. Night in a small hotel right on the edge of the river that marks the beginning of the reserve.

• day 2

  Bukit Lawang and elephant park

  For those who wish, we will go for a small trek in the forest in the morning and see the (wild) orangutans. It’s a beautiful walk to do and quite unique. In the afternoon, after a good lunch, we will take the motorbikes for 41 km of trails through forests and plantations, and we will go see an elephant park near a beautiful river. We will return by the same route at the end of the day and we will stay in the same hotel as the night before.

• day 3

  From Bukit Lawang to Berastagi

  We will leave Bukit Lawang quite early to be able to enjoy the day, which will continue through the palm plantations. There will be many small ascents and descents on large, very wide paths, where we will pass through very nice small villages with their always smiling schoolchildren. The day will certainly be long, but it will be an opportunity to take some beautiful photos. For the rest of the day, there will be small paths with lots of stones... and very nice mountain landscapes that will be a change from the palm plantations of the first day. Our day will end at 1400 m altitude, arriving in the small town of Berastagi, where a very nice hotel will be waiting for us.

• day 4

  From Berastagi to Lake Toba

  Still in the same spirit, we will leave this friendly little town of Berastagi quite early in the morning, in order to make the most of this day which will take us to the edge of Lake Toba by small wild paths, through a forest, then into a plain with a view of the lake. Memories guaranteed... In the evening, a small hotel on the lake and grilled fish, very nice...

• day 5

  Tour of Samosir Island

  We will set off to tour the island of Samosir by the only small road that exists on this side, with the ever-present mountain and plain landscapes, as well as rice fields along the lake, not to mention the traditional houses of Sumatra, often with buffaloes in front, which gives an atmosphere from another time. We will arrive in the evening at a very small, modest but very nice hotel.

• day 6

  From Samosir to Pematang Siantar

  For this 6th day, we will start by crossing the lake by boat to leave Samosir Island. We will then pass through balsa forests and plantations, as well as beautiful tea plantations, then very pretty rice fields to end this day. We will stay at the Pemalang Siantar hotel, a very pleasant small town.

• day 7

  Back to Medan

  We will leave the small town of Siantar early in the morning, after breakfast, to reach the city of Medan by passing through rubber plantations, over about 160 km of small dirt roads and tracks, but never dangerous or difficult. We will arrive between 4 and 5 p.m. at the hotel in Medan, where we stayed the first night of this trip. Night at the hotel and end of the motorcycle trip.
