    Peterhof, Grand Palace and Park

Peterhof is perhaps the most famous and spectacular imperial estate in Saint Petersburg. The Peterhof Palace is located in the middle of a vast park, adorned with fountains, statues, and pavilions. Versailles was the inspiration for Peter the Great's desire to build an imperial palace in the suburbs of his new city.

  • day 3

Pushkin, the Catherine Palace and Park

There is so much to see in the suburb of Pushkin that you can easily spend the whole day there. Here are some other places to explore: Catherine Palace with the extraordinary Amber Room, Alexander Palace, even though it is much less famous and much more dilapidated than Catherine Palace. Pushkin has many sites paying tribute to the greatest Russian poet, Alexander Sergeyevich. Among them, a museum in the former Imperial Lyceum, where he was educated. Pavlovsk is the youngest of the great imperial estates around Saint Petersburg. Named in honor of Tsar Pavel, this beautiful neoclassical palace and its vast landscaped gardens are well worth a visit. Pavlovsk deserves to be visited both for the treasures of its elegant palace and for the charming hiking park, which is one of the largest and most beautiful English-style landscaped gardens outside the United Kingdom.

  • day 4

    Oranienbaum or Kronstadt

You can choose between Oranienbaum and Kronshtadt. Cronstadt is located on the small island of Kotlin, in the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland. It has always been a major training center for the staff of the Russian navy. According to the will of Peter the Great, Kronshtadt was created as a fortified city and port, a reliable shield for the new capital of Russia. A powerful reinforcement of the fortifications — old Russian forts — was created above the Gulf of Finland more than 300 years ago. You can take a boat trip and see these forts that made up the most powerful fortress in the Baltic. The city's skyline is dominated by the Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas. Oranienbaum is a Russian royal residence, located on the Gulf of Finland. The entire palace complex and the city center are classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will enjoy the day in the park and visit the Chinese Palace. Russian ballet In the evening, you are invited to watch a world-renowned Russian ballet on one of the stages of the Mariinsky or the Mikhailovsky Theatre.
