Immersion in the Calchaquí Valleys: a night with a local

On that day, you will set out to meet a community of the Calchaquies Valleys, where you will be warmly welcomed by a local family. Two villages, both authentic and rich in traditions, open their doors to curious travelers: Corralito or Divisadero. The choice can be made in advance according to your preferences, or decided on site depending on the local community network. CORRALITO About thirty kilometers from Cafayate, Corralito is a small hamlet full of history, nestled between ancient vineyards, red hills, and Andean traditions. Here, you will be welcomed in the only house available for visitors, which makes the experience particularly intimate. Depending on the season, you can harvest fruits and vegetables directly from the garden, then cook and share a typical regional lunch (included). A walk among the old vineyards will immerse you in the village's stories or, if you prefer, a hike to the Los Colorados mountains, accompanied by a community member, will allow you to discover the striking colors of the landscape. You can also visit the church built in 1880 and listen to local anecdotes about the traditional carnival. A pottery workshop is also offered for those who wish to become familiar with this ancestral craft. Horseback rides can be organized for an additional fee – please let us know in advance if you are interested. DIVISADERO Just 6 km from Cafayate, on the banks of the Lorohuasi River, is Divisadero, a peaceful community surrounded by vineyards and ochre mountains. You will stay with one of the three host families, in houses located just a few steps from each other. You will be invited to discover their daily life: visit an artisanal winery, participate in agricultural activities depending on the season (harvest, pruning, or bottling), walk to the indigenous mortars or cave paintings, or take part in a family cooking workshop. The activities last about 3 hours and are a great opportunity for cultural exchange. In both communities, you will be invited to participate in the preparation of homemade meals, in a simple and friendly atmosphere. A beautiful way to share a moment of life, far from the usual tourist pace. This type of stay is much more than a stopover: it is an immersion in a way of life, an invitation to listen to the stories of the land through those who have always lived there. Community rural tourism fosters an authentic, respectful, and deeply human exchange. It allows you to directly support the inhabitants and discover the region through their eyes, their actions, their cuisine, their memory. If you have a preference for one of the two communities, let us know in advance. Otherwise, let yourself be surprised by the chance of this encounter. The families speak Spanish; an interpreter can be arranged on request.
