5-Day Merzouga Desert & Nomad Experience (Marrakech → Merzouga → Marrakech) Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Benhaddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley Departure from Marrakech and crossing the majestic High Atlas mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m), offering breathtaking views of lush valleys and traditional Berber villages. Visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, a remarkable fortified village with impressive kasbahs. Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the "Gateway to the Sahara" and home to the famous Atlas film studios. Crossing the captivating Valley of Roses and then the Dades Valley, renowned for its spectacular rock formations and lush landscapes. Overnight in a charming guesthouse in the Dades Valley. --- Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga Desert After breakfast, continue through rugged landscapes towards the Merzouga desert. Explore the impressive Todra Gorges, with their towering cliffs and the cool river running through them. Pass through traditional Berber villages as the landscape shifts from rocky canyons to the arid expanses of the Sahara. Arrival in Merzouga, where you will ride a camel to cross the rolling dunes of Erg Chebbi at sunset. Arrival at the desert camp, where a delicious dinner, Berber music, and stargazing under the clear desert sky await you. Overnight in a traditional desert camp. --- Day 3: Exploration of the Merzouga desert & nomad visit Full day of discovery in the Merzouga desert. After a magnificent sunrise and breakfast, visit nomad families who have preserved their traditional way of life in the harsh desert environment. Share tea with the nomads while discovering their customs, culture, and resilient lifestyle. Continue exploring the black desert, the Gnawa village of Khamlia, and the beautiful oases scattered throughout the desert. Return to your camp or a guesthouse for relaxation and dinner. --- Day 4: Merzouga → Rissani → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate Farewell to the desert and crossing fascinating landscapes towards Ouarzazate. Visit the trading town of Rissani, famous for its lively souks and historical importance as a caravan crossroads. Drive along the magnificent Draa Valley, lined with palm groves and ancient kasbahs. Arrival in Ouarzazate and discovery of the legendary Kasbah of Taourirt. Overnight in a comfortable riad or hotel in Ouarzazate. --- Day 5: Ouarzazate → Atlas Mountains → Marrakech End of the adventure with a scenic drive back to Marrakech. Another crossing of the High Atlas mountains, enjoying the varied landscapes and panoramic views. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon, where your unforgettable journey ends.
