  • day 1

    France - Portland

You will pick up your rental vehicle at the arrival airport and settle quietly into your hotel.

  • day 2

    Portland

Welcome to the capital of Oregon, a trendy city on the banks of the Willamette River, where the quality of life attracts a dynamic population. Its fine restaurants, art galleries, and trendy boutiques in the Pearl District, as well as its lush Japanese garden, make it a unique place. Prepare your picnic by shopping at the Saturday market, which offers fresh local products. If you plan to leave in June, you will have the chance to attend the Rose Festival, which will allow you to discover typically Oregonian folklore, with parades of floats.

  • day 3

    Portland – Hood River

Drive east to reach Hood River, a charming small town on the banks of the Columbia River, an ideal place for water sports and one of the best spots in the world for kite-surfing and windsurfing. Hood River is also one of the top destinations for outdoor sports: hiking, mountain biking... 1 hour away by car, Mount Hood, the highest peak in Oregon at 3,426 meters, is known for climbing. Give yourself a thrill and make a detour to the Timberline Lodge, a luxurious hotel and filming location for Stanley Kubrick's movie "The Shining."

  • day 4

    Hood River – Pendleton

The landscapes change as you follow the Columbia River Gorge. Admire the many easily accessible waterfalls. Multnomah Falls, at nearly 200 meters, is the highest. At the level of the Deschutes River, treat yourself to a day of river rafting, guaranteed thrills! Then, the mountains give way to vast expanses, those of the gold rush. Pendleton is a small western town where cowboys gather for the legendary round-up that takes place every year in September. Here you are in the real Far West! Don't miss the underground city, built to cope with prohibition and social tensions.

  • day 5

    Pedleton – Enterprise Hells Canyon

By following this road through the middle of the forest, you will find yourself in the Wallowa Mountains region. You will change scenery to discover an alpine side where the mountains are reflected in the waters of the lake. Peaks, which you can reach by cable car or, for the more courageous among you, on foot, offer a splendid panorama. You can hike along the many trails in the Eagle Cap Wilderness area, the little Switzerland of America. Horseback rides are also possible in the region.

  • day 6

    Enterprise Hells Canyon

Hells Canyon offers incredible and dizzying views from its 2,400 meters high. The Snake River has carved gorges deeper than those of the Grand Canyon. In clear weather, you can see Idaho on one side and Oregon on the other. Head to the various breathtaking viewpoints.

  • day 7

    Enterprise – John Day

This stage to head back west will allow you to stop at the two John Day National Monuments, geological vestiges. Soil erosion has revealed fossils of plant and animal species. The first is Sheep Rock, a rock formation that provides a beautiful backdrop to the river winding at its feet. The second is the most surprising, you will see it after passing through Dayville: the Painted Hills, majestic hills offering superb gradients of color, from bright red to ochre and white.

  • day 8

    John Day – Sisters

The cities of Sisters and Bend, both nearby, are two paradises for outdoor activity enthusiasts. In Sisters, enjoy the beautiful Five Pines Lodge hotel, a haven of peace in the heart of nature. When you visit the town, discover the small shops and art galleries that give charm to this place nestled at the foot of the mountains. On the second weekend of June, the rodeo is a show in itself.

  • day 9

    Sisters

On the Bend side, you won't know which activity to choose between kayaking, golf, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, or fly fishing. The Old Mill district will charm you with its modern facilities, quality restaurants, and shops.

  • day 10

Sister – Crater Lake National Park

Take the wooded road to reach the famous Crater Lake National Park. 7700 years ago, the volcano erupted and formed a crater which, little by little, was filled by melting snow and rain. Today, it is the deepest lake in the United States; its waters are so pure that you can see an object more than 30 meters deep. A fabulous view.

  • day 11

    Crater Lake National Park

You have a whole day to visit the park and enjoy beautiful walks. Lovers of wide open spaces will be delighted!

  • day 12

Crater Lake National Park – Coos Bay

Join the coast via the city of Coos Bay, a coastal town with a lovely little fishing port. On the way, pass by the sand dunes of the Oregon Dunes Recreation Area. 5 km from the shore, the forest meets the sand dunes to create a unique landscape. These wild landscapes, which stretch for about sixty kilometers, feature a very rich ecosystem with many species of birds.

  • day 13

    Coos Bay - Newport

Above Florence, discover a cave housing an impressive colony of sea lions. At Haceta Head, you will find one of the most typical lighthouses in the United States. Nestled on a hill and overlooking the ocean, the view is particularly beautiful. Next, visit the charming town of Newport, a picturesque fishing port where you can enjoy a pleasant boat ride and perhaps spot gray whales during their migration. At the Oregon Coast Aquarium, it is the sharks that will surprise you. In one of the seaside restaurants, end your day by tasting the delicious Dungeness crabs, a local specialty.

  • day 14

    Newport – Astoria

Going up the coast, you will pass along the scenic route of the three capes. First, Cape Meares, whose very green appearance contrasts with the bright blue of the sea. Then, Cape Lookout, dizzying from the top of its cliff. Next, Cape Kiwanda, perched on a weathered promontory. Trails have been designed for hiking along these 3 capes. North of Manzanita, make a detour to the very beautiful Oswald Park, where the vegetation of temperate rainforests begins. Plan a walk to Neahkanie Mountain, from which you will have magnificent views from the summit.

  • day 15

    Astoria – Portland

Finish your journey along the coast in Astoria, which has become fashionable and offers "trendy" hotels and restaurants. Its beautiful coastal landscapes have served as filming locations for many movies. Stroll along the Riverwalk. The local Sunday market is an opportunity to discover local products and crafts. For the end of this tour, return to Portland; this could be a chance to shop at the Woodburn factory outlets. Oregon is one of the four states that do not apply local tax, so take advantage of it!
