From Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

You will be welcomed by our driver/guide at Kigali International Airport and you will stop for lunch in the city before being transferred to the twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. These are beautiful lakes located at the base of Mount Muhabura and near the border with Uganda. They are surrounded by steep hills and large waterfalls, with the volcanic mountains of the Virunga as a backdrop. These twin lakes are superb places to visit. Once called neglected gems, things have changed and Bulera and Ruhondo are now must-see sites. Their deep blue waters, bordered by steep hills and high waterfalls, with the outlines of the nearby Virunga volcanoes, create a spectacular backdrop. Join the viewpoint, then drive to Ruhengeri, the second largest city in Rwanda, with five volcanic mountains in the background: the Virunga. Arrival for dinner and overnight at the hotel. Main destination: Volcanoes National Park Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, mid-range lodge located just outside Volcanoes National Park. Meals and drinks: Dinner (breakfast and lunch not included), drinking water (other drinks not included).

Gorilla observation in the Virunga mountains.

After an early breakfast, you will head to the headquarters of Kinigi National Park to meet your guides for the day. After completing the park formalities, we embark on a unique experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them, you can spend an hour observing your closest cousin, long lost. This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences in the world! You stare at each other without knowing who will break the long silence first. Tracking gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. These massive primates are extremely rare, with fewer than 700 individuals alive today. You will be just a few meters from the family and have the privilege of spending an hour among them. The trekking can be quite strenuous, up to six hours or more at a relatively high altitude. Return to your hotel for lunch, then dinner and overnight stay. Main destination: Volcanoes National Park Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, mid-range lodge located just outside Volcanoes National Park Meals and drinks: All meals are included. Drinking water (other drinks not included).
