    Lake Skadar

It is the largest bird reserve in Europe and the last habitat of pelicans, one of the last Mediterranean freshwater marshes: it is therefore one of Montenegro's greatest tourist attractions. While sailing on the lake, you can admire its indented shores, its many bays and coves, as well as its picturesque flora and fauna (water lilies and their flowers, willows, birds...), the old fishermen's houses, a unique impression. Virpazar is a lovely little fishing village on the shore of Lake Skadar, between Petrovac and Podgorica. There are several hotels and restaurants. You can climb up to the castle upstream for a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains.
