Trip Description

Come and discover the majestic Mount Aragats, which is part of the Lesser Caucasus range and is the highest point in Armenia. You will have the opportunity to admire the third highest volcano in Europe, its numerous mountain lakes, as well as meadows covered with multicolored flowers. This trip will give you the chance to be amazed by the beautiful valley of the Kotayk region from Mount Ajdahak, another extinct volcano in Armenia, with the small lake formed inside its crater.

  • day 1

    Yerevan

    Flight to Yerevan. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay.

  • day 2

    Yerevan – Sevaberd – Akna Lake

    Meeting with the guide at the hotel reception at 9 am. Early departure to the village of Sevaberd (2000 m altitude), from where we will begin our 5 to 6 hour hike to Akna lich (3020 m altitude). Nestled in the Geghama mountain range, it is a volcanic lake of particular interest. Overnight stay in tents. Route: 12 km

  • day 3

    Akna Lich – Mount Ajdahak – Vanki Lich

    Our day begins with a hike starting from Akna lich towards the highest point of the Geghama mountain range – the Ajdahak volcano (3597 m alt.), located in the western part of the range. It is an extinct volcano with a small lake inside its crater, formed as a result of melting snow. From the summit of Ajdahak, we will be amazed by a breathtaking view of Mount Ararat, the Kotayk valley, and Lake Sevan. We will continue the hike towards Vanki lich (2620 m alt.), where we will camp. Route: 20 km

  • day 4

    Vanki Lich – Geghard village – Garni – Symphony of Organs – Yerevan

    In the morning, we will leave Vanki Lich to head towards the village of Geghard. Along the way, we will discover vishapakars ("dragon" stones). In Armenian mythology, these stones symbolized the worship of water. In the surroundings of Vanki Lich, we will also find petroglyphs, the oldest of which date back to the 5th millennium BC. Once in Geghard (1900 m altitude), we will discover its unique rock-hewn monastery. Next, visit to the pagan temple of Garni (1st century). Walk in the gorge with its superb basalt organs. Return to the capital and overnight at the hotel. Route: 16 km

  • day 5

    Yerevan – Qari Lich – Aragats /south and west summit/

    In the morning, we will set out to discover Qari lich (3200 m alt.) and then reach the south and west summits of the highest mountain in Armenia. Mount Aragats, with its four peaks, forms one of the largest craters in the world, created by a volcanic eruption. The highest peak of the mountain is its north peak (4095 m alt.). We will reach the south peak (3880 m alt.), then head towards the west summit (4080 m alt.). Overnight in tents at 3500 m alt. Route: 9 km

  • day 6

    Aragats /north summit/ – Yerevan

    In the morning, before returning to the capital, we will discover the crater formed between the north and east summits. Return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel. Route: 12 km

    Return flight

    Transfer to the airport. End of our services.
