Land of legend embodied by Sinbad the sailor, the Queen of Sheba, and the Thousand and One Nights. Hidden between the sea of sand and the Indian Ocean, Oman has managed to preserve its identity, values, and way of life. In the desert, Bedouins still keep the caravan tradition alive. DAY 1: MUSCAT
Arrival at Muscat airport. Welcomed by a representative. Transfer to your hotel.
DAY 2: MUSCAT (70 km)
Crossing the embassy district with your guide to reach the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, both traditional and modern, it reflects the aspirations and ambitions of the Omani people. This building beautifully respects the balance between aesthetics, culture, and the deep roots of Islam.
Continuing towards the Opera, a major architectural project of the Sultan.
Discovering old Muscat, dominated by mountains and flanked by the sea by two forts Jalali and Mirani dating from the 16th century. Here is located Al Alam Palace, residence of the Sultan.
Visit to the Bait Al Zubair Museum, an Omani house built in 1914 by Sheikh Al Zubair, once in service of the sultans, and transformed into a museum in 1998. Behind its massive carved doors, you will find collections of weapons, jewelry, costumes, everyday objects, and reconstructions of past urban and rural environments.
Continuing the walk along the corniche leading to Mutrah. A trading port and host to the old traditional souk. Stroll through its covered and winding lanes where buyers of fabrics, jewelry, perfumes, and art objects jostle.
Dinner in a traditional restaurant. You will appreciate the local gastronomy and the kindness of the Omani hospitality.
DAY 3: MUSCAT – SUR – WAHIBA SANDS (340 km)
Departure south along . Stop at Sinkhole well, a natural depression in the heart of the mountain where bathers enjoy a vast pool of pure water. Head towards Fins to reach Wadi Shab. Possibility to stroll in the wadi bed scattered with shrubs, palm trees, and natural bathtubs before lunch.
Arrival in Sur, a coastal city and active port throughout the year. Here are built , traditional wooden dhows used by Arab sailors for millennia. You will wander along the coast between cliffs and small fishing villages.
Spend late afternoon in Wahiba Sands, a fascinating region of dunes. On board a 4x4 enter into the desert frequented by Bedouins for over 7000 years. Discover their secretive hidden life between two rounds of safe .
Settle in a camp and watch the sunset. Dinner around the fire and evening under the stars.
DAY 4: WAHIBA SANDS – NIZWA (200 km)
Last stroll in the dunes and direction Wadi Bani Khalid. A green valley topped with impressive mountains; you will enjoy breathtaking panoramas, ideal for photography enthusiasts.
You will discover the bottom of the canyon before heading to Nizwa. Have lunch on the way and arrive in Nizwa early afternoon. Discover where Islam was established in Oman.
Its famous jewelry souk dates from the 17th century. Walk through the old alleys of the fort.
DAY 5: NIZWA- MUSCAT (250 km) – MUSSANAH
Continue exploring Nizwa with an excursion to charming Birkat Al Mawz, at the foot of Jebel Akhdar.
Proceed towards Jabreen Fort, built in the 17th century it remains undoubtedly one of the most remarkable from that era, with its gypsum work, carved doors, and painted ceilings.
Return to Nizwa crossing Jebel Shams, part of the Hajar mountain range. Pass by old Bahla fort; stop in Al Hamra palm grove to discover the ancient irrigation system still in use today, .
Road to Mussanah, with free afternoon to enjoy this little paradise on the edge of the Indian Ocean.
DAY 6: MUSSANAH – NAKHL – MUSSANAH
Free morning.
Excursion to discover Rustaq Fort and Nakhl Fort. This typical Omani village was built around an abundant spring year-round. It allows irrigation of vast palm groves. The fort is built atop a hill overlooking plantations and valley. It's a pre-Islamic building. On descent, stop at Al Thowarah hot springs.
DAY 7: MUSSANAH – MUSCAT AIRPORT – DEPARTURE (80 km)
Free morning and lunch to enjoy the beauty of these places.
Transfer to Muscat airport for your return flight.
