  Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

  

  Today, you will be welcomed at your hotel or at the airport and transferred straight to your hotel at the foot of the volcanoes, ready for the next day’s visit to the famous mountain gorillas. Accommodation: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge or similar Meals: Lunch and dinner (breakfast not included)

  Mountain gorillas hike

  

  Early breakfast before proceeding to the park headquarters, where visitors assemble at 07:00 for a briefing on how to behave while in the company of a gorilla group. You will meet your guide here and proceed to the starting point of the trek to your allocated group of gorillas. The length of the trek varies depending on where the gorillas are, as well as the weather conditions. It is important to bring good hiking boots, long trousers for protection against stinging nettles, some snacks and sweets, as well as a sufficient amount of water, as the rainforest gets hot and humid during the day. Once the group of gorillas has been spotted and approached, thanks to the trackers, you will observe them at a maximum distance of 5 meters so as not to disturb them. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, which is a truly amazing experience, before trekking back to the base and returning to your lodge. Easygoing and peaceful, gorillas seem totally indifferent to our presence and continue their lives—playing, rolling, delousing, sleeping, and feeding in their plant world. Sometimes they come very close to us, even touching us. It's a unique, fascinating moment. Encountering the mountain gorillas in the wild is a truly humbling and emotional experience, one that you are sure to remember for the rest of your life.
