This 12-day itinerary will introduce you to the most authentic and diverse treasures of Colombia. You will start by exploring the historic center of Bogotá and the rich colonial heritage on the banks of the Magdalena River, in the village of Honda. You will marvel at the breathtaking páramo landscapes in Murillo and you will completely relax in the thermal waters of Nevado del Ruiz. You will delve deeper into the traditional coffee culture in Salamina, surrounded by the iconic and very tall wax palms in the Samaria Valley (San Félix). Then, you will witness the incredible social transformation of Medellín in the colorful Comuna 13 and you will climb the famous Guatapé rock. Your adventure will culminate in the romantic city of Cartagena, immersing yourself in its vibrant streets and sharing ancestral traditions with the fishing community of La Boquilla.

During your trip, you will rest in a carefully selected range of boutique hotels and charming inns, mostly 3-star. In historic towns and villages such as Bogotá, Honda, Salamina, Medellín and Cartagena, you will enjoy welcoming accommodations (Casa de la Vega, Posada Las Trampas, Casa Lola, La Campana and Casa Mara), notable for their colonial architecture or their strategic location. For your days immersed in nature, you will stay at the picturesque Hostal Areca, in Murillo, and at the relaxing Hotel Termales del Ruiz, a refuge surrounded by nature and thermal waters, in the heart of the mountains.

    Arrival at Bogotá airport, the Andean capital, and a warm welcome by the guide. Private transfer of approximately 30 minutes to Casa de la Vega hotel to rest and prepare for the adventure.

    Walking tour Bogotá

    4-hour walking tour in La Candelaria to discover the historic heart of the city, with its colorful houses, wooden balconies, and picturesque patios. We will visit Plaza de Bolívar, the iconic Chorro de Quevedo, and taste sweets and local specialties.

    From Bogotá to the history of Honda

    Private transfer of 3 and a half hours to Honda. With our local guide, we will discover the rich history of this former port on the banks of the Magdalena River. We will walk through its colonial streets, the river museum and its famous market square, considered a national monument.

    Artisanal fishing and ascent to the Páramo

    We will sail on the majestic Magdalena River, learning ancestral artisanal fishing techniques directly from the local fishermen in Puerto Caracolí. In the afternoon, we will head to Murillo (3000 msnm) for an acclimatization hike to the Silence waterfall and the Cross viewpoint.

    Mountain hiking and thermal waters

    We begin a spectacular 10 km hike through the páramo ecosystem. With favorable weather, we will enjoy impressive views of the snow-capped peaks of Ruiz, Santa Isabel and Tolima. The day ends with a well-deserved rest in the comforting thermal waters of the Hotel Termales del Ruiz, surrounded by rich biodiversity and birds.

    Coffee immersion on the way to Salamina

    3-hour transfer to Salamina. On the way, aboard a traditional Willys Jeep, we will visit an authentic coffee finca in La Palma to discover firsthand the cultivation, harvesting, and artisanal process of the best coffee in the world.

    Wax palms in San Félix and tradición panela

    Trip in a Willys Jeep to the traditional village of San Félix to enjoy a « tinto » with a fritter. Then, we will set off on a hike in the spectacular Valle de La Samaria, home to the gigantic wax palms (national tree). In the afternoon, we will experience the artisanal process of making panela on a local farm.

    Art and transformation in Medellín (Comuna 13)

    4-and-a-half-hour transfer to the dynamic city of Medellín. We will take a moving tour of Comuna 13, discovering its profound social transformation and its resilience through urban art, its famous escalators, and the innovative Metrocable system.

    The color and the wonder of Guatapé

    Full-day excursion to visit the imposing rock of El Peñol. We will climb its stairs to be rewarded with an unrivaled view of the immense reservoir. We will complete the day by strolling through the charming and colorful village of Guatapé before returning to Medellín.

    Flight to the Caribbean and charm of Cartagena

    Transfer to the airport to take a flight to Cartagena de Indias. After settling into the walled city, we will enjoy a 4-hour historical walking tour through its vibrantly colored streets, its charming squares and the solid ramparts that once withstood pirate attacks.

    Afro-Caribbean tradition in La Boquilla

    Authentic morning excursion to the fishing village of La Boquilla. Alongside the Afro-Cartagenian community, we will learn to fish with a net and to catch crabs. The reward will be to learn to cook our own catch, accompanied by a delicious coconut rice, with a local family.
