Tiger Nest (Takshang Monastery Hike) | Farmhouse Visit with Stone Bath

Classic Bhutan Tour with Hikes - Tiger Nest (Takshang Monastery Hike) | Farmhouse Visit with Stone Bath - Photo du jour

Morning: Hike to Takshang Monastery, also known as “Tiger Nest”. The hike, which is all the way uphill, takes about 3–4 hours through pine forests (total walk: 4–5 hours). The monastery clings to a huge granite cliff 800 meters above the Paro Valley. It is believed that the great saint Padmasambhava came in the 7th century on a flying tigress and meditated in a cave for 3 months. The demons who were trying to stop the spread of Buddhism were subdued, and the Paro Valley was converted to Buddhism. At the end of the 17th century, a monastery was built on the spot where the saint meditated, and it is a pilgrimage site for every Bhutanese to visit once in their lifetime. On return, visit Kichu Lakhang. Late in the afternoon, we will drive to a local farmhouse located on the outskirts of Paro to enjoy dinner. If interested, you can enjoy a traditional stone bath by paying extra directly. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Overnight at Hotel in Paro
