The entrance fees to the Falls Park, 50 USD per person, are not included. The unique site of Victoria Falls, in Zimbabwe, where the Zambezi River plunges from a cliff and falls into the Boiling Pot, before passing through a series of gorges. The Zambezi, whose existence has been known since the Middle Ages, was first explored by a European, David Livingstone, between 1851 and 1853. It was only during his second journey, in 1855, that he discovered the largest waterfalls in the world, which he named Victoria, in honor of the Queen of England at the time. The history of the Zambezi River is intertwined with local mythology, notably the legend of Nyami Nyami, the river god resembling a serpent, worshipped by the Tonga and Lozi peoples. Before the colonial era, the river was considered a sacred "river of life" that provided sustenance. The construction of the Kariba Dam in the 1950s is said to have angered Nyami Nyami by separating him from his wife, which led to immense floods and disasters during the construction, thus reinforcing the belief in his power.

On the way to Savuti
This morning, you will meet your private guide at the Lodge. You will head towards Savuti. The Savuti marshes, covering an area of 10,878 km², are the remnants of a vast lake whose water supply was cut off by tectonic movements. The Savuti "channel" remained dry between 1982 and 2010, when it filled up enough to reach the "Savuti Marsh" wetland area. This region offers vast stretches of savannah dotted with majestic acacias, an ideal habitat for giraffes, antelopes, and felines that are particularly fond of this southern part of Chobe National Park.
