From the Highlands capital of Antananarivo to the legendary Avenue of the Baobabs, this 10-day expedition crosses the wild heart of western Madagascar, by road, by river and on foot, through ancient limestone cathedrals.
jour 1
Arrival in Antananarivo, Madagascar
Land at Ivato International Airport, where your dedicated guide and driver will warmly welcome you in the Malagasy way. Depending on your arrival time, the afternoon is yours to soak up the rhythm of Madagascar’s vibrant capital.
jour 2
The Central Highlands of Madagascar
Head south through Madagascar’s spectacular central highlands. The road unfolds through terraced rice paddies, red-earth hills, and a mosaic of traditional villages — a feast for the eyes and for the camera.
jour 3
Antsirabe → Miandrivazo Day
Today, the landscape tells a dramatic story of transformation. As you move westward, the cool, green highlands gradually give way to vast sun-scorched plains. The temperature rises, the air becomes drier, and the landscape becomes raw and elemental.
du jour 4 au jour 6
Cruise on the Tsiribihina River to Bekopaka

Board a traditional dugout canoe and let the Tsiribihina carry you through one of the most remote and best-preserved wilderness corridors in Madagascar. The river is your highway — and nature is the only soundtrack. The last morning on the water closes the river chapter, as you arrive in Belo-sur-Tsiribihina around noon. After a leisurely lunch, the adventure continues on land — and things get rough.
du jour 7 au jour 8
Discovery of the Tsingy de Bemaraha

Your first encounter with the Tsingy de Bemaraha begins gently. The Petit Tsingy offers a breathtaking introduction to this otherworldly limestone world — all the drama on a more accessible scale. One of Africa’s most extraordinary natural spectacles, the Grand Tsingy is a cathedral of sharp limestone pinnacles rising from the earth — ancient, strange, and absolutely unforgettable. It is the centerpiece of the entire expedition.
jour 9
Bekopaka → Morondava & Baobab Avenue

An early departure for the long, but picturesque, return journey to the coast. The journey itself is spectacular and it culminates with one of the most iconic sunset experiences in all of Africa.
jour 10
Morondava → Flight to Antananarivo
Your last morning in the west is yours: savor it at a leisurely pace before the domestic flight takes you back to the capital. The Indian Ocean stretches as far as the eye can see before you — a perfect backdrop for a quiet reflection on ten extraordinary days.
