For a thorough discovery of the island of Elba, a week is the ideal time. By opting for central accommodation, in Portoferraio or Capoliveri, for example, the various corners of the island will be easily accessible. Afternoon relaxation in delicious meals, without forgetting some cultural visits and walking tours, Elba is a perfect destination for a week of holidays.

Day 3: West Coast
Day 4: Capoliveri
Day 5: Monte Calamita and Porto Azzurro

Generally, ferries are landing in Portoferraio in the afternoon. After the installation in your accommodation, you can start the stay with a sun bath on the beach Le Ghiaie, visit the official residence of Napoleon, and the evening enjoy a walk in the heart of the old town.
In the morning you can reach the famous white beaches of Padulella, Capo Bianco and, less accessible but splendid, Sansone. Or enjoy the beach Delle Delle, just below the Palazzina dei Mulini, where there is a well-known and panoramic restaurant: Le Viste. After lunch, departure from Portoferraio towards Marciana Marina. On the road, La Plage beach deserves the detour, with its fine sand and promenade to the beaches of Forno and Scaglieri. Late afternoon, arrival in the romantic village of Marciana Marina. The small beach of the Fenicia is recommended for a swim before dinner and its beautiful sunsets. In the evening, enjoy a break in Marciana: visit of Forteresse fortress and for the brave, the gondola that lifts you up to the top of Monte Capanne.
Visit to the west coast of the island, from Marciana Marina to Marina di Campo. On the road is the source Napoleon and its still fresh water, the funicular to the top of Mount Capanne and the beaches of Sant'Andrea and Cotoncello, famous for their smooth cliffs of granite plunging into the sea. A little further away is Chiessi and Pomonte, two small villages where time seems to have stopped, but also Fetovaia, Seccheto and Cavoli, the most famous fine sand beaches on the island. There are countless possibilities for trekking and boat trips. The evening can be spent at Marina di Campo, or for more autenticité, in Sant'Ilario and San Piero, small villages typical.
On the route from Marina di Campo to Capoliveri, do not miss the large beach of Braulio, its beautiful pine forest and sand dunes, as well as the various coves within walking distance and the beach of Norsi. The town of Capoliveri also offers several beaches: Lido, large and busy; Felciaio, hidden but very special; Barabarca and Zuccale; Madonna delle Grazie; Peducelli; Marquees; Pareti; Capoliveri, with many coves difficult to find but very pleasant. In the evening, visit the historic centre of Capoliveri. It is recommended to choose accommodation on the south coast to enjoy the views of the islands and sunset.
Day of visit on the promontory of Mount Calamita: iron mines, hidden coves, wine tasting to the Tenuta delle Ripalte, trekking, bicycle excursions or horse riding. In the evening, visit the historic centre of Porto Azzurro.
Walk to Porto Azzurro on the beach and around Fort Longone. If you have time, direction the beaches of Barbarossa and Terra Nera, very special for its lake by sea. Then take the road to Rio Nell'Elba, which offers beautiful trekking trails and a appreciated gastronomy. Finally, Rio Marina organizes a tour of the mines on a small train.
