A great weekend in this charming city reserves a dive in American history, thanks to the visit of the Liberty Bell Center and the Independence Hall, as well as beautiful cultural discoveries, with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes Foundation.

Visit of the historic centre to understand the richness of the city: first step at the Independence Visitor Center to take brochures and a ticket for the Independence Hall then, Liberty Bell Center, Elfreth's Alley, Franklin Court and the Constitution Museum. Lunch at City Tavern to stay in the atmosphere with waiters wearing period costume. Stroll through the streets to Washington Square to discover the red brick houses. In the evening, if it's the first Friday of the month, enjoy the First Friday Celebration in the district art galleries. Otherwise, dine in Chinatown to see the beautiful red arch symbolizing the neighbourhood.
Discover the Philadelphia Museum of Art and marches immortalized by the Rocky film. The tour of this exceptional museum takes the morning. Lunch at the edge of the water below the Water Works Restaurant or in the museum's cafeteria. Then, head to the Rodin Museum with its pleasant garden, then continue on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Barnes Foundation and its impressive collection. Spend the evening in Northern Liberties and discover this little more underground neighborhood.
In the morning, visit to the Eastern State Penitentiary prison, which hosted Al Capone. Then, have lunch next to the City Hall at the Reading Terminal Market, a large regional market where the Amish sell their products (from Wednesday to Saturday). End the day in South Street and spend a moment in the Magic Gardens mosaics before having a quick dinner at Italian Market, or go back to find a good restaurant around Rittenhouse Square.
