Just between Corsica and Tuscany is the island of Elba, piece of land of more than 200 km 2 to the history as ancient as its coves and beaches are paradise. Here is a suggestion of itinerary over three days that should allow you to do nothing on the island where Napoleon chooses to go out of exile, combining relax, gastronomy and culture.

A day in the discovery of the island capital: its culture, its art and its history - the national museum of Villa dei Mulini, the Medici fortresses, the archaeological museum of the Linguella, the church of the Misericordia etThéâtre des Vigilanti, its white beaches - Le Ghiaie, Capo Bianco, Sansone-and its culinary delights.

On the west side of the island, the scenic coastal road connects the beaches to beautiful medieval villages. From Portoferraio you can easily reach many beaches and villages. Don't miss the granite quarries and the charming villages of San Piero and Sant'Ilario. All Costa del Sole, from Marciana to Marina di Campo, offers possibilities for hiking and outdoor activities. The most courageous will take the gondola to the top of Monte Capanne.
