Itinerary along the Alpine arc: Mont Blanc in the Dolomites


Trip description

Here is a circuit proposing to follow this mass, which is a natural border to the north of Italian territory: the Alpine chain. By arriving by road from France, we will have the opportunity to discover some of the splendour of the north of the boot, from Mont Blanc to Venice, by passing through Turin, the great lakes region and the great Dolomites. This route can also be followed over three weeks, with a few additional days of rest on the shores of one of the lakes in Bolzano and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Through the Mont Blanc tunnel you arrive in Courmayeur to take the cable Car from Mont-Blanc to the Needle du Midi.




Day 2 : Grand Paradise National Park

Go to the beautiful village of Knocks to take a walk in the famous National park of Grand-Paradis.




Day 3 : Aosta

Leave for Aosta on the road of castles. Aosta deserves a detour for its old historic centre and its typical Italian ambience. You will visit the castles of Fenis, Verrès, Issogne and Bard.




Day 4 : Turin

Stroll through the historic centre, via Roma, Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo, and do not miss to visit the beautiful Egyptian Museum.




Day 5 : Lake Maggiore

Discover the western shore of the lake. Stresa, the most famous resort, then Bavenno, where you will visit the Villa Taranto park and its beautiful Botanical Garden. Then the Borromées Islands: Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella for its "Italian" gardens.

From Lake Maggiore, go to Cannero Riviera. All close to the resort extends the ruins of the della Malpaga castles. Next, you can reach the smallest and most graceful of the Lombards lakes: . From Orta, possibility to win the island of San Giulio by boat.

Crossing Lake Como towards Bellagio, the most beautiful lake resort in the lake. Visit the city and, above all, the gardens of Villa Serbelloni. Then go to Como, the most chic city in the lake.




Day 8 : Lake Garda

Go to Malcesine to take the cable car from Monte Baldo and admire the panorama of the lake.




Day 9 : Trento

Visit of the historic centre, the castle del Buonconsiglio and the Muse, the Dolomites Sciences Museum.




Day 10 : Bolzano

This is a necessary visit, that of the historic city of Bolzano and its famous Archaeological Museum where Ötzi is the man of the ice.

Route to Venice to visit the Serene, St. Mark's Square, Palazzo Ducale and the Dorsoduro district.

For a panoramic view of the city of Milan, climb on the terrace of the Duomo. Then go shopping and shopping in the Quadrilatère neighbourhood at the countless shops.




Day 15 : Back to France by the Susa Valley

Visit the Sacra di San Michele on the route, and the fort of Exilles. You can spend your last Italian night in Bardonnechia, close to the French border.
